Austria 2027
From Friday 6th to Sunday 15th August 2027, Royton Explorer Scouts are taking a group of Scouts and Explorers on a full week trip to Austria.
Royton Explorers have run an international trip for Explorers and their feeder Scout Troops every three years (with a slight blip due to Covid) for around 20 years.
The last one was to the Czech Republic in 2024 where we took around 40 young people plus leaders from 2 different Scout groups and Royton Explorers. When is it?
We will be in Austria from Saturday 7th to Saturday 14th August 2027. Transport details are still to be confirmed, but it is likely we will leave Royton by coach on Friday the 6th and return by coach on Sunday 15th August.
Where is it?
We will be staying in the Lech Valley in the Austrian Tyrol, provisionally in the village of Bach. The hostel we will be staying in and the most of the activities we will be doing will all be ran through the outdoor company Jeka (who we have worked with on many occasions). Travel to and from the hostel and whilst we are in Austria will be through a UK coach company.
The Lech Valley is a stunning location and provides a wealth of outdoor activities, in addition to a culture and history which are very different from the UK's, some of which we'll soak up while we're there.
What will be happening while we're there?
Scouts and Explorers will be taking part in the same activities through the week which we expect to include activities like Rafting, Dry Toboggan Runs, Go Ape Style High Ropes course and Zip Line, Mountain Walking (with the potential for a 2 day mountain expedition with a stay in a traditional Alpine Mountain Hut) along with some cultural experiences.
Who is going?
We hope to take between 40 and 50 young people and leaders from Royton Explorer Scouts, 1st Royton Scouts and 3rd Chadderton Scouts, as well as former Explorers who are now in Scout Network.
